    Hi
    Performance vise Out side Skimmer is better or Inside . plz advise , i am going to set up 50gallons Salt tank.

    If I understand correctly, the answer I think most folks will agree on is that an in-sump skimmer is a better performer than a hang-on-back skimmer.

    I think if you compare the same brand/model HOB vs in-sump, the difference in performance would lie somewhere between negligible to non-existent. I do agree that the in-sump unit has other advantages if one is using a sump. :)

    sz3812~ If you're asking about in-sump vs stand-alone skimmers, I'd side with in-sump; no worries about external plumbing leaks or overflows ending up on the floor; OTOH, if you're referring to HOB vs in-tank, I'd recommend HOB.

    All skimmers overflow eventually. Would you rather have it overflow in your sump, or on your floor?
