When looking at tanks in the 6-8ft range in length, how wide do these generally get?

I know with custom the sky is the limit, but for a ready made rectangle tank - is 24" normal? Or would I want something with even more floor space if I had a tank that long?

    Thanks

I think 24 wide is standard. From the ones I've seen it looks like a huge amount of space. I would like to help you more and say I Have had experience with that width but I don't.

I know from the few pics of extra wide tanks that if I had the ability to buy it I would want one as wide as I could get. I really love the depth that they give to an aquascape.

I think 24" is the standard on long tanks. I know a 180 is 6' long, 2'X2' But for an eight foot tank I'd look at 30-36" range for the tank width. Especially if you will see one end. You know we always end up wishing we had gone bigger! ;)

+1 on more room to scape.
