When I was around that age I got really into the ratchet and clank series you can only get for playstation and I am still a huge fan to this day. Over a decade later.

I think the debate is kinda crazy between the two. I think either way you go it will be good. They both have positives and negatives. Me my personal preference is Xbox over the playstation. I like the controller better than the playstations. Also the Kinect is a ton of fun to have no controllers to hold on to. The blu-ray player on the playstation is no selling point have one already and they have came down so far in price. All in all it is everyone throwing out what they like better there is no right or wrong way to go I would say. I think he would love what ever console you get him. Good luck

Wow. Oh so lovely spam post there. Anywho, as a 360 owner, I'd honestly say get him neither. Get him a bike, or a skateboard, or something other than a gaming console. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but my 360 has become a glorified dvd player.

But, if you must get him a console, I'd have to say the 360 is the better choice atm simply based on controller feel and overall game availability. the blue ray player is, as Chas said, a non-issue. You can pick one up for 60 bucks at wal-mart.

as for kiddy games the latest on the xbox kinect has some amazing titles..
    Disney's adventures,kinect sports season 2,dance central 2,just dance 2,sesame street once upon a monster...
these titles are awsome for kids and the best thing about the kinect everything does not need to be hlep because of true motion sensor!
For me however I play MW3 alot and i'm on the ps3 for that because my cousins are all on thier!

Ps3 Would be my vote. Ratchet and Clank for the win!... Back ages ago when the PS3 originally came out. I bought that console for that game. Do I regret it? No. :)

And to be honest. Im not impressed with the new xbox's. I have a red xbox 360 that I got ages ago. Runs way cooler then the new one my mom won. We ended up storing the red one because we set the new one up. We are planning to switch them back out, however this plan was ment to be done months ago... That just shows how long ago was the last time we thought of using that system. The ps3 is on daily here. However not running dvds but games. I have a blu ray home theater system which I run movies off.

As for the feel of the controller I do agree the ps3 would be easier for the younger, However I hate the feel of the xbox's controller. And I have larger hands... So Honestly just proving that that will be a personal preference.

Im honestly more intrigued to see the kind of 3d Games PS3 will release soon? Or how thats honestly going to work.

Only thing I have been excited for about the xbox in a long time is halo 4 coming out at the end of this month. Kinect annoys me :). Im active enough at work and with my pets and aquarium that when I want to come home and relax and play a video game. I dont want to be jumping around and doing all that. So I would put that in perspective if thats something you or anyone in the family will want to do. Because if you go with an xbox 360, I would avoid having kinect then if its something that the family wont like. My 12 yo cousin has wii and when she comes over she doesnt even want to play the kinect.
