So i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their PS3?

I had this happen about 2 years ago and i sent it in to sony and it took about 2 weeks and they replaced the system for like 150 bucks or something.

My brother broke it again about a month ago and i had it fixed at Play n Trade, i picked it up and after about a week, it broke again(YLOD).

I am wondering if you guys have repaired it and it been fine? or if there is LITTLE chance of it returning to normal after a repair.

Its being repaired again at the same place since i had a warranty on it..

I have repaired my 1st gen 60gb 3 times. I bought a 120gb slim last year after the 2nd repair. The 1st time I fixed it it lasted about 6 months, and 2 months the 2nd time. I resoldered it 2 weeks ago and gave it to a friend to use. When you get it back do your best to give it plenty of air to keep it cool, I have heard those cooling fans for PS3s help. Good luck

    Thx!

So would putting it near a open window help? it is always around 35-45 F here in NC so it would be some nice chilled air coming in right next to it. Or could that damage it?

I don't think that would hurt. FYI the problem with most YLOD is over heating. Try to keep the front and side vents clear to help the internal fan remove the hot air. Some stand the unit on end also.

yeah, when "I" play it, i shut it off after 1-2 hours.

But when my brother used to play it, he would "sneak" on at night at fall asleep and leave it on for 8 hours. So that is what killed it im almost 100% sure.

I will start vacuming out the dust once a week on it too. heard that can help.
