we just got one and i was wondering just how aggressive they are to inverts. i've read that they will eat small shrimp but how small are we talking.....baby camel shrimp size or adults? he is leaving out blue leg hermits alone and other than the susaly feeling out process, there have been no scraps with out clown fish or scooter blenny. what is the lowdown on these guys?

I've had them so many times before and never had a problem with inverts. They will get aggressive towards other fishes that get to close to their territory and feeding time;D, who can blame them, I get the same way.....;D;D;D BTW, how did you get that sneaky avatar?

i've heard, believe it or not {:)} conflicting advice about mixing them with some inverts. ive heard everything from they are completely NOT reef safe, to they ARE completely reef safe, to they will eat shrimp, hermits, etc......so its good to here from first hand experience that they should be ok.
    thanks.

You never know what will happen until you do it. For ex. I would never put a angel fish in my tank b/c I had a bad exp. with them nipping at my corals. But some ppl have them and never had that problem. Fish are just like us, each one has their own personality. My reference book also states about eating ornamental shrimps, but if you keep it well fed, you " shouldnt " have a problem. Hope this helps, Luna

my Pseudochromis was the spawn of satan. I couldnt even give it away. Its like with all fish, some are good, some are bad. Its the luck of the draw. My angel never touched a coral, yet others have devasted coral colonies. Same goes for tangs, Tangs can do eat corals as they get bigger, thats a common misconception about them. They are not just herbivores, they are omnivores.

Same here. I had one take out about $400 worth of shrimp in less than a week. Turned me off of keeping them for good.

Of course mine was the infamous "emperor devil pseudo" which I didnt know, it was a freebie from the LFS I worked at, somebody brought it back when they were moving. So I gave it it a home, and the store owner heard my horror stories about it and wouldnt take it when I wanted to get rid of it, haha.

I learned a long time ago to not accept freebies. They ALWAYS wind up causing me trouble and/or costing me money :D
