Puffer Chick's 46 Gallon Bowfront Reef

so i did a little experiement tonight with my moonlights. i turned them on before my actinics went off to see if it would make my fish stay up later becaues as soon as my actinics come out it gets pitch black for a quick second before i turn on the moonlights and by the time i turn them on i my fish are all in the sleeping places.

Didnt work how i planned it, but one really cool thing happend
turns out my helfrichi firefish serioously glows in the dark with the moonlights on! it was so cool half of his body became a super bright white! it was so awesome, i was able to see him swim around as he went to his sleeping area, it was seriously AMAZING im still surprized on how bright white is bottom half was, something tht i have never seen before in a fish

 

i havent gotten a new mag float ye, but today while doing water changes i decided to use a paper towel and it actually worked great, but i still need to get a new mag float, this is just a temporary solution, so now my glass is finally decent looking

 

thats actually a really good idea! i actually got most of the film off i was really surprised

sooo i finally got a new mag float andddddd it doesnt scrape my glass its not the normal mag float but its a top fin kind but it works

 

yea its so nice! and i kind of like the top fin mag float compared to the normal brand because theres an actual handle

oh and my skimmer is finally skimming for the longest time it stayed at one tiny level and did not go past that, but it got very dark, but now for the first time in ages its actually going past that water level only thing is, that its making spitting noises but i guess i cant have this thing running 100% perfect but i will deal, oh and its actually foaming too

h and i also moved my votech up higher so it doesnt create anymore sandstorms, so far so good and my tank is much clearer than it was with all that sand floating around

hahaha lol ya think and thanks it really is, its so nice having a mag that doesnt scartch the tank
