I thought it looked like a Montipora too. With all these new corals, especially the SPS, you should really consider testing for and dosing Ca, Mg, and ALK.

 

deffiently will start to test more, and ive uped my water changes fro 5 gallons once a week to 10 gallons once a week, soh opefully that will help also
i dont think i have room for much more coral i really dont have a whle lot of rock left for more corals, ive got one rock that doesnt have anything but its the closest rock to the vortech, i dont know of any sps or ps that would like the that much flow but i have my zoas on a bottom rock near the vortech so they dont mind it, so i duunno if i should just make that rock a softie only rock.

or will another acro like that much flow, ive placed my currernt acro close to the birdsnest on the other side of the tank

also turns out i purchased a bleached torch hopefully i can revive it with my lower lighting since it was placed directly under the MH at the lfs

 

What salt are you using? As far as corals that love high flow, I would try a Millepora.

 

i get water from the LFS i think i saw that they use Instant Ocean

i just saw my Melanurus eat a cerith! what a bad boy! i thought ive noticed i dont see as many ceriths as i used to have oh well guess thats a melanurus wrasse for ya

 

I love the acro!!! is it a true white or does the camera just pull out the white?

Im trying to get my hands on a purple tissue, white polyp acro right now... its crazy beautiful!!!

 

also about your flow... if it is not too direct and is somewhat randomized most sps will be okay there.

 

yea its deffiently white hopefully you get the acro that you want

the vortech is on reef crest mode, my only worry about putting the SPS near the vortech was when i first got my birdsnest it was pretty close to the vortech and he had no polyp extenssion but now that he's as far away as possible he is very happy with extreme polyp extension and crazy growth

 

understandable... the birdsnest, pocillapora, and to some extent montiporas dont like super high flow. But acroporas can handle higher flow, milleporas are one of the best ones for high flow

 

good thing to know, glad i placed the monti in the middle of the tank how do we tell if a monti is unhappy like with flow and stuff, im used to seeing corals closing up and stuff when their unhappy about flow how do we judge the monti

deffiently going to get another acro when i can though and ill have to check out mille's i wonder if i can get like one more lps so i have a bit more movement and color in the tank
