ok ill make sure to check those places out :D now its just a matter of getting my credit card down and the cyano under control, ive never had a cyano probelm until now, im hoping the reason why i have it is because it's still a "newish" tank, i never had a cyano outbrake during/after my cycle, but now at 8 months it decides to come out of no where and is taking over and covering my coraline and making me hate my tank right now

Algae cycles are just one of the growing pains of any reef (Even though Cyano is not technically algae, it still feeds on nutrients.) How often are you feeding? Are you running any type of phosphate reducing system like GFO or macroaalgae? I believe one of the main reasons I haven't had a huge problem with algae is because of my refugium.

i feed once a day, mainly because of my melanurus wrasse. but i seriously feed so little its probably not even enough. I dont have any phosphates removers or anything like that or a fuge. I think the thing that annoys me the most is because my rocks were seriously spotless for months, then i got a little GHA then that went away and now its a bad case of cyano, i loved my tank when it was algae free but now its just ugly. I'm hoping the new powerhead will take care of my problem, but if it doesnt ill probably be forced to setup a little hob fuge

thanks for the info, now all i need is the supplies. My camera dulls out the color a bit, it's more orange, but dingo thinks it might be a pink birdsnest

The guy I just got my birdsnest from had a GHA problem in his 150/200 gal (not sure is huge)tank and said after he got a phosphate reactor it all went away.

I might get one just for outbreaks and such...can use on whicheverr tank needs it. I also rather like the bubble algae...is interesting and I'd rather it than GHA any day. ;D
