man oh man oh man! these lights are AMAZING! i found my dad in my room checking out my light and looking at the instructions lol and so i walked in we put the bulbs in, just random order for now. Pluged the light in and these lights lit up my room like it was the 4th of July! And if i looked at the light fixture for just a mear second, it was like blinding! So we sat it for a few seconds over the tank and it was beautiful!

lol my dad already has a plan on how to hang the fixture without using the ceiling, so instead of the ceiling we will be using the shelf that's on the wall above the tank, and having something extend out and hook up the light, i'm not sure what exactly he has planned, but it sound like it might work. He is really getting into this, between the skimmer, the eggcrate lid, and now lthe light lol. Wish i could take pics!

 

Make sure that shelf is pretty dang sturdy on that wall if it's going to be holding up the lights. Maybe anchor it to wall studs somehow. But it sounds like a good idea to me as long as the shelf is up to snuff.

 

i think we have nails holding up the shelf, there isint anything on it at the moment, my dad thinks the shelf may bend slightly but that's it, i'm sure he'll do some playing around with it. lol cause it sounds like he has a plan

Nitrates are going down!

so tonight i felt like testing, i only tested nitrates and it has gone down from 20 to 5! i think the tank will be finnished in one or two more weeks! Exciting!!!

hehe i know i know. my laptop should be back by the end of next week. it's such an expensive repair for broken hinges $175! but yeah, i think my dad and i will try to get the light up this weekend if we have time, and i'll take pics once the light is up, and then once i get my laptop back i'll upload them, you gus aren't missing out on anything, their not even on the tank yet

 

Is your ammonia and nitrites to 0 yet? You will have nitrates until you do a water change....or your protein skimmer removes them. You don't have to wait until nitrates are 0 to declare it cycled. Just making sure you knew!

I'm interested to see how you hang the light. Take lots of pics!

 

i tested nitrites and it was still at 0.05 and i havent tested ammonia, proably will test that tomorrow. And i've been running my skimmer for a few weeks now.

lol i'm interested how my lights will hang as well lol still don' know what exactly my dad has planned but i think it will work
