Our GHA went away after about a month. Once your tank gets established and you have a good system running, it's kind of hard to get algae. Even if you try. We haven't tried, but ever since our favorite CUC members bred and we got a beastly skimmer with a fuge and phosphate reactor, we have seen zero algae except for coraline.

A good strategy with GHA or other cycle algae is to let the algae eat up your nitrates and once your nitrates hit zero, try all you can to keep them that way, and then the algae will die off. That's the theory anyways...::)

I like Pokie. He makes me want an urchin :D

thats how long it took for my diatoms to go away. I'm looking into getting a phosphate reactor, i still don't know though because i worry about the big tubes being inside the tank and don't know how that would work.

I'm really surprised that i still have nitrates with the gha, maybe its because i've only had it for about a week.

And thanks pokie is pretty awesome :D

Some pics of my tank before the clean up crew

here's some pics. I had to take it in sections so you can see the algae. my urchin hasn't been able to get the algae down but he has been working on it, i'm hoping the clean up crew will help him out. Pictures didn't come out great but you can get an idea
