yea it's touching the water. And its screen door material. i want to perfect it so it doesn't touch the water. I have extra egg crate and extra screen door so i think i will do the design different and somehow make it so it doesn't touch the water, as i worry about it creating dead spots

not sure what those are made of... if it's anything that can corrode, it shouldn't touch the water... (rust)

yea I'll try to find out. Window screen was a suggested option to keep the fish from jumping, pond nettings holes were to big.

My Dad had mentioned there was like a glue that sprays and that we could spray the window screen to the egg crate. Any idea what this might be called and if it's reef safe

i was able to find a 46 gallon bow versatop, i had to order it from my LFS and it cost about 45 dollars, but it is a perfect fit, and i did not have to improvise anything like egg crate. It has a 2 inch gap in the back for components, and has plastic stuff to fill in the gaps in the back. I recently set up an overflow, and when I put it on my tank the versa top no longer fit, so I took some measurements and took the glass top to a glass business by me and had it fit, now it fits perfectly again.

How much par value do you lose using a netting for a top cover?
