That I'm not sure but all I know is that it has stopped my firefish from carpet surfing

Using netting is a good barrier to prevent jumping, but with all that you have put into your tank thus far, why not just get a glass versa top? It will be 45 dollars well spent, plus it will make your aquarium look nicer!

I believe most people don't like glass tops. I forget exactly why but I think it blocks oxygen or something like tha

Yeah glass tops are a no-go IMO. It prevents gas exchange, and since Puffer doesn't have a sump, the gas exchange would only truly be happening in the skimmer, and that's nowhere near enough to work. You'd basically be drowning your fish, depending on how many fish you have.

Puffer, you remember that top my mom made with eggcrate and plastic mesh? You could try something like that. We only used it at night time because all of our fish jumpers jumped at night, so your tank can look normal during the day time but still have some nice protection. Plus screen during the day time still blocks some light, so if you're wanting more light it'll have to go.

All we used for the top was: egg crate, plastic mesh, duct tape, and wire clippers. Cutt the egg crate to the shape of the top, including skimmer and other holes, and then wrap the mesh around it and duct tape it down. It looks horrid, but that's why it's only a night time thing :D

how you guys did yours is basically how I did mine. I run my light scheduel opposite of most with lights coming on at 12 and turning off at 10pm so my night time would pretty much be daytime. I just worry about not having some protection

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but I made my screens on top to replace my versa glass hood.... I used plastic screen door frame meterials and mesh... came out with this... :

works well, cause on my tank I have an inner ledge from the tanks black frame. that is over the top of the aquarium.

Yea the screen door material is what I'm using. Yours looks really good. I think it would be hard to make it look that nice for a bowfront. Nice red carpet :p

Eh, Mine are just squares. That run almost up to the back of the tank, If the firefish I have is going to jump out of that back of the tank, so be it. He has to get past all the flow and circulation in my tank to do so. Twitch prefers the front of the tank anyways. I havent had the lid on my tank in almost 2 weeks now, No Jumpsies yet.
