I did not know that a glass top would cause loss of gas exchange. A comment was added about a sump, I have a glass top on my tank, but i have a 10 gallon sump underneath. Would this be sufficient for gas exchange that you were mentioning?

I wanted to thank you for your posting about installing your skimmer. I read about your tank regularly, although I don't have much to add or post frequently. However, I have just gotten a skimmer into my SW tank configuration.

I had a basic idea of which things to adjust but your own description of the process was helpful.

Sharing the experience - works for me.

BTW, your tank is coming along very nicely.

Peridhil your eggcrate wall is cool. That's what I'm going to do. But I have no jumpers as of now. Knock on wood. :)

since i don't know what it's made of, I'll say it's very possible it's leeching heavy metals or other toxins into the water... you wouldn't 'see' any issue for a while... you wouldn't know if it's causing problems yet...

what do you think would be a temporary solution? my dad had mentioned that theres some sort of spray glue that would be able to glue the mesh an the eggcrate together so that it doesnt touh the water. I just dont know if this stuff is reef safe or not
