Are there any puffer fish that are reef safe and able to live in a 75 gallon tank?

Everything I've read says no. There are some small enough for a 75 but none are considered reef safe.

    One source for ya:

Wow, after reading that it seems like they are a handful to keep in any tank!

Some Tobies and Sharpnose Puffers would be fine in your tank are are typically reef-safe

Don't they eat inverts? Or is that one of those individual things where it's risky, some are OK for a while and some never are? If they have to worry about their beaks getting too long they have to take care of it somehow.

They will eat at your rocks.. coral.. inverts... etc...
Rocks will keep their beaks down.

Would love to have one.. but would be in a species only tank.

I havnt had any problems with my porcupine puffer. He is so funny to watch. Has never puffed up even when my snowflake eel decides to nip at him for food hogging. Reminds me of a dog in many ways the way he begs for food. He will sleep all day if no one is around however as soon as someone walks by he has to come out and say hi. He even lets me touch him which I think is strange. Mine is relatively small as of right now. I think it just depends on which individual you pick. They all have different personalities. I think that article is misleading I keep mine with an anemone and he has never tried to eat it.

i agree with amanda, i have a green spotted puffer and i love him. I will be trying him in my new hopefull reef setup once everything is ready. Mine sleeps a lot too :) very cute to watch. lol my puffer also lets me touch him, but that was an accident though, i didn't mean to touch him :) But they are very interesting and do need hard foods for their teeth, mine has been an extremely easy keeper. My only issue with him is finding foods that he will eat. I can't wait to put this guy in the new tank. I say do some research on puffers, but they are very neat fish.

Puffers are very individual, and usually if you get them when they are young, they grow up learning who their tankmate friends are, and what is food. They generally will be curious when things move and will nibble at them, unless it's something that can sting them, like anemones etc. Puffers do need something to bite on to wear down their teeth though. I usually wiggle a clam or oyster shell which he bites on and it does the trick. They also sell frozen "Clams on a half shell" for them too. it helps them keep their teeth down.

I am going to have to get some clams and try that. Mine is very particular about what he eats. He eats krill and shrimp. I recently bought him some of that fake crab meat at kroger, he seems to like that a lot.
