My pulsing xenia has its "tenticals" (for lack of a better term) all shriveled up. Just did a water change yesterday and today all shriveled. Water is perfect (tested everything). Never had xenia before and im not sure if this is normal. The base of it is still all puffy and pink. Ill try to get a photo

Can you explain more about your water change process? How about tank parameters? Are they shriveled like the ones in my picture, or more than that? How long have you had the xenia?

Mine do the same from time to time. I actually had one "head" shrivel up and die, only to have another head grow back in its place within a couple of weeks.

At other times, the heads shrivel up for a day or two, and it bounces back.

What other types of corals do you have? Are you running carbon? You may have some chemical warfare going on it your tank that is affecting it.

It may just be reacting to the water change. You can't ever mimic the exact previous conditions when you do a change.

Water change consists of removing 5 gallons out of 55 and replaced with RO add salt and heat, salanity and temp are same as dt, add to dt with a small hose over a 5 min period.Only had xenia a week and a half and has been doing great. Just tested 1 hour ago salanity of tank .023 temp 77 ph 8.0 (i know a little low) ammoina 0 nitrite 0.1 nitrate 0 carbon hardness 11

They just look a little ticked... As sushigirl mentions, and where I was heading, your water change probably freaked them out a tad. I don't see any nuclear meltdown in any of your pics. Water changes should be done to match existing water as best as possible to avoid any major fluctuations in water chemistry.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I maybe really off here but is there a chance that beautiful angel is snacking on the xenia. He sure looks interested in one picture, a nip and and a nip there can cause the xenia to stay closed and deflated.

My pulsing xenia are very temperamental. They will do that after a water change, if a fish just brushes up against them, they get hit by a piece of food, etc.

I wouldn't worry too much unless they stay like that for longer than a few days...
