Mine don't pulse much under actinics, usually only when the halides are on. They also slow / stop pulsing if water quality is an issue. Kind of like a weird little alarm.

It's all good. Sometimes they pulse, sometimes they don't. It's not an indication of any kind of health, good or bad. Watch them when the lights go out, it's cool to see them close up all at once.

FYI, and I'm not trying to be rude, this topic comes up from time to time. Next time do a quick search and you might find an immediate answer instead of having to wait for someone to post something useful.

Mine 100% of the time day or night. I've thrown some in my fuge. The ones down there don't pulse I'm assuming because the lighting is much dimmer. They still grow and multiply under my dimmer fuge lighting. Maybe your PC bulbs are too dim. How long has it been since you changed them?

No one has mentioned flow yet. Mine never pulsed after I brought them home. I moved my powerhead and BAM they went crazy. They take I'd say one day off a week and pout. Otherwise they're out and happy!

Same here.. they like low flow.. mine stopped pulsing during the great overtemp issue earlier this year. Then melted and died. Before that they always pulsed. Regular and pompom.

I toyed around with placesment and current. I noticed they are more active than not in a low flow area ...as low as flow can be in a 30G. BONSAI?? WOW! that must hurt =(

Thanks fish addict ...I test weekly to twice weekly... obsessively perhaps. My parameters are always right on point. My LFS is awesome and instructs for tank health rather than up-sales ...for that, Im grateful
