My wife has a Mag 7 in her tank that we've choked back with a ball valve to reduce the microbubbles. I use one as the return on my tank and, it too produces bubbles. I'm thinking of replacing them both. Anyone have a good recommendation. Anywhere between 500 - 1000 gph or thereabouts is fine for my tank and 200 - 500 is fine for hers. I'll accept a recommendation on how to get rid of the bubbles instead.

I am not a fan of Mag pumps, they are massive heat producers, are loud and not all that efficient.
I use only Ocean Runner or Eheim pumps myself and hve no complaints with either.

You are valving the discharge side and not the suction side of the pumps aren't you? Never restrict the suction side as that causes cavitation and microbubbles, only the discharge side.

Yep. Only the discharge side. I'm only valving one of them, but they both create the bubbles. The valve was a marginally effective attempt at reducing the bubbles. I'm going to look into OR and Eheim, thanks.
