I Just picked up a used Aqua C Remora HOB skimmer without a pump. I am setting up a 125g tank. The guy who sold it to me said he had it on a 125 and used a Maxi jet 1200 on it, but other are teling me to get a MAG 3. Is there really that much of a difference. the 1200 does 295 GPH and the MAG does 350. Is that significant? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I am new to this :-[

The Mag3 is generally for the Remora PRO because it's larger.
The MJ1200 is recommended for the Remora.

You may want to try a Mag3 on it. The regular Remora is rated for a tank 1/2 your size so you may want to look at an upgrade already if possible. You should be shooting for a skimmer that's in the 200 gal range, not the 55 gal... sorry

It is actually the Remora Pro, sorry for not clarifying. So, it sounds like the MAG 3 is the way to go?
