    Hey reefers:

I had the 3/4" tubing dislodge from my main pump in the sump overnight...
Water shot out everywhere until it caused the gfci breaker to trip shutting everything off (thank god it did!!!!! a must have for any hobbyist)

Anyway, I tried using plastic ties to secure the tubing to the inlet... however... it doesn't feel snug. Obviously, I don't want to use a metal clamp in the saltwater...

Any suggestions to ensure it's tighter?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

They make nylon hose clamp that have a ratchet type of closure on them, I have been using them on my pump and they work quite well. Or you could wrap the outlet with Teflon tap till it big enough to make the hose fit tighter.

I got a pvc threaded fixture for mine after that happened and set it up that way, no problems since

If hose dislodges from something, chances are it's the wrong size hose. In the past, I'd have to fight to get a hose on a male, but since I learned to use boiling water, I've not had the problem.

I put about a cup of water in a pyrex measuring cup into the microwave for 3 min's. After boiling, I stick the end of the hose into the hot water, and it softens it up beautifully to get it on the pump or whatever. I would almost have to use a knife to get the hose off. If a hose is loose to the point where it came off, check to confirm you're using the right size hose.
