The question is will a iwaki or gen x pump draw water up out of a sump? I have a 55g that I'm using as a sump that is not drilled and really don't wanna. All the pumps that I've looked at draw water from a bulk head is it possible to place an pipe in the sump and draw it over the top of the sump?

It works but will reduce the flow. You will have to prime it the first time and any other time you drain all of the water out of it too. When you go up and over you just and a threaded tee with a threaded plug to the high point in the system so you can prime it.
