Well I am almost to the point of pluming the new build. I have a 90 right now and have some softies, zoos, acans, etc. I don't plan on getting into sps. I am downgrading to a 75 with a 40 breeder as a sump. I will be installing a bean animal overflow on the tank (picked up glass today). It is not a complete coast to coast box, I had it cut at 36" and am planning on running 2 return lines on each side of the box. With that being said, the measurement from the bottom of the sump to the top of the 75 is 52". I don't currently have a sump on my 90 so this is new to me. I don't know what to take into account for the bends off of the t that I have to install for the two separate return lines. What size pump and brands preferably under $200 should I be looking for? I looked at the WB 5000 and it's rated at 1300gph which I can obviously tune down with a valve. Any recommendations?

You will want a return pump that runs at 10 times the sumps volume (400gph) at 4 to 5 foot head.

So seeing that you are running the same size sump and dt, what pump are you using? I thought it was supposed to be 10x the display volume.

No if you run water too fast through the sump you risk heat issues and microbubble issues. Your skimmer won't be as efficient because the water is going by so fast. Also big pumps like that use a ton of energy and tend to be noisier the larger they get. I am using a Rio HF 8. You could use 2 of them for your dual return design without much problem.

The benefit of the bean overflow is that the return lines are submerged in that area of the sump, quieting the flow and not producing bubbles, so would that make a difference? I saw this system first hand and the design was so quiet that I didn't even think the pump was on when I got to the guys house. Although he had a smaller pump, he has also seen it running 1500+gph with the same results.

i have the same setup and i run an iwaki 20rlxt 540 @ 4 foot but i have a couple 90s in there so it puts me about 400-450 and is perfect i was running a 30rlxt 960@ 4 foot it was like a tital wave water was running through my sump so fast the skimmer couldent keep up ans was actually pulling less out than it is now

so like 2in10 sead 10 times the sump volume per hour any more is a waist of electricity not to mention 1 inch drains if you keep redundacy thaughts in you head i wouldent flow more than what one could flow just for emergancys so thats in the ball park of 600gph

and watch those overflows depending on design thay can be a bit noisy so i would before you go too far look into posibly setting up a durso standpipe befor you get everything set up then you find out it sounds like your sticking your head in a toilet 24 houras a day lol

oh i just realized your running a bean overflow there quiet unless you overflow it just make shure you have emergency drain

The microbubbles come from the skimmer output. Very high flow through the sump does not let them pop so they end up in the DT. The smaller pump and lower flow allows for more efficient filtration whether the skimmer of GFO reactors.
