I have a rio 26 hyper flow return pump that seized up on me. After much cleaning and adjusting, the impeller is just not turning.
So I ask this: 1) Replace the impeller for $40. 2) consider an alternate, possibly more reliable pump.

I have noticed with the pump not running there is at least a 4-5 degree difference in water temp.

I've heard of problems with Rio pumps.

For $40, I would just go for the new pump instead.

You should only need something that produces 10 times the sump volume at about 4 foot head.
