I have a RSM250 with a 600GPH pump on the left side. The pump produces so much output that I either need to put in a "Y" or some other deflection device because this pump pushes the sand bed away from the front.

Well, this pump died yesterday. I'm thinking instead of a 600GPH, buy something a little less power. The MaxiJet 1800 has a 475GPH rating.

The tank currently has an additional pump on the right side, which is a 300GPH. I also have Vortech MP40W on the side of the tank pushing water across the front.

Tank will include lots of corals and mostly small fish later down the road.

I think this is enough water flow. Your thoughts and opinions?

What size tank do you have?

You do not need to aim the flow just from the back to the front. Aim it from corner to corner or side to side.

    The RSM250 is a 65 gal tank.

I tried aiming that port all over the place. If I aimed it at it's highest point, it would make a strong enough wave, the water would hit the lid.

If you have an MP40 in there, you're more then fine, just adjust the output to suit your tank's needs.

Don't buy a new pump, call Red Sea, they'll send you out a new one with no problems. I called yesterday about my skimmer pump, and they just wanted to get the receipt faxed. Took all of 5 minutes.

It's somewhat important to not go for a slower flowing pump, as this one pulls water into the protein skimmer. Until you get the sump+fuge set up, you really want to run it with their pump.
