    Hello Everyone,
My Mag 7 pump from my sump to my show tank just went out. I have a 75 gal tank with a 40 gal sump. I was wondering what pump should I buy to replace my Mag 7. I have and overflow made by CPR but I don't know the specs. What would be the suggested flow for my tank?

My Mag 7 worked beatifully on a 300 GPH overflow I had on an 80 gallon with about a 36" lift and the flow was wide open.

As you probably know, the distance of the lift and the number of 90 degree elbows detrmines the required flow. Was the Mag 7 not getting the job done?

The mag 7 was doing the job, but I was thinking while I am going to buy a new one I could upgrade a little. The pump pushes the water up about 3' and goes through 3 90 degree elbows. I got the pump from a friend and was not sure if it was rated high enough for a 75 gal tank.

From my experience it's better to have just the right amount of flow so you don't need to mess with a gate valve or throttle back the pump.

I have had great experiences with ViaAqua pumps. Powerful and they don't cost very much.

Just got another one today for my chiller.
