    Hello all,

Does anyone use purple up or purple tech as a suppliment for their corals? I was talking with a girl at the LFS and she stated this...and I had never heard of this before...

    Thanks in advance!

+1. It really depends on what you mean as a "suppliment". Purple up is a calcium additive. Nothing really more, nothing really less.

Some ppl here use it, but I dont like it b/c it contains Iodine and that can get you in trouble. If you do your WC or dose accordingly, you dont need to add that. Luna

not true...Purple up has Argonite which delivers calcium, strontium, magnesium and carbonate along with iodine.

Considering that purple up costs over a hundred/gallon, I'd use something else.

I've been using very small amounts of Purple up for a couple months. I didn't want to use the full dose cuz of the iodine. (Since I can't test that.)
I have a small amount of coralline growing. To be honest I don't really think it's doing much. It could be helping, but it's hard to tell. I only have a few frags and rocks with pink to seed it. If you want coralline to grow make sure your calcium and especially magnesium is at the proper level.
