So after hearing so many great things about Purigen I decided to try a bag of it in my canister filter. Rinsed it, checked for holes or seam rips, fired up the filter, instant snowstorm in the tank. I took the Purigen back out and still can't find any holes or rips in the bag, so I'm not sure what happened but I now have a tank full of tiny particles floating around. It's the 100ml one that comes prepacked in a bag.

Any thoughts on how to clean up the mess?

Canister fitler might have been too much flow, stuff is VERY VERY fine and blwos through msot meshes. Was the top sealed real good with the ziptie?? The mesh they supply the bag with should not leak the pellets

It's the one that comes in a presealed bag, so no tie. I guess it was just too much flow. I still can't find any leaks and when I run my hand over the bag I don't come away with any particles.

had this happen to me on one occasion ScorpD
It was a small split in the seam weld that caused the issue

you will have to check your pumps and wavemakers etc and rinse them , as some of those small pellets can get lodged in your impellers etc ( found a lot in my skimmers pin wheel impeller)

left to their own devices they will eventually settle somewhere, as do all things that float around the aquarium
you can speed up this process by turning off all power heads and water movement for a short period , they will sink and settle, and you can then do a syphon and water change or a syphon through a aquarium net with filter floss lining and then pour resulting water back in aquarium (having trapped the purigen in the floss lined net)

if you system has a sump, incorporate some mechanical filtration such as a filter pad or filter sock over the incoming pipe to your sump
use powerheads to keep the purigen in circulation so it ends up going over the over flow and the purigen will get captured by the filter pad or sock
