So I saw this little cheap RO unit on ebay. Its called a "PuroSmart" Its a little unit like a "Pur" filter that hooks onto your faucet and is all self contained. It only makes 15 GPD but I have a smaller midsize tank, so my topoff is 1 gpd and when I make salt I generally make 5-10 gallon batches. Basically this thing is 30 bux and its a TRUE r/o (no DI tho). I forsee the upkeep on it running me like 15-20 every year for the carbon things and it says you should replace the membrane yearly, which runs about 15-20 bux as well. This is a stop gab so I dont have to keep running to walmart for water.

I was wondering if anyone has heard of this or similar "micro" RO units and if they work etc.

    I appreciate any input.

Hmmmm. Seems like a reasonable price to me. I do the run to Fred Meyer every couple weeks for water myself. It's just RO there. And it does just fine. Will consider for myself.....

I wouldn't waste my money. It says the membrane is only good for a year amd the carbon for 3 months. Thats at 15GPD max which you will never see unless you have 77 degrees F water and 65 psi water pressure, figuer 2/3 to 3/4 of their claimed production rate with most any RO system. Plus who wants their faucet tied up for 24 full hours to make probably 10 gallons of water?
