Ok so this is more of a down the road thing as I don't feel my parameters are quite stable at this time. I would like to keep some acro at some point. I have a 55 gallon tank with a quad of t5 HOs. Do I have a chance to keep these with my current lighting? I don't yet have alk and mag test so I don't know what they are at. I'll probably try some birdsnest before I even consider.

I don't yet have a skimmer, but plan on a hob model. Not sure if that is sufficient...

I grew acros with a 4 bulb T5 system in a 55g. Not much growth, but mostly due to low alk levels.

I grew a forest of acropora with only T5's and they grew like weeds.Mind you i was running 8 tubes and all ATI.Don't buy cheap knock off bulbs, german ones are the best. The most important thing with T5 is the individual reflectors. My tank is 20 inches deep but most of the sps were in the top third of the tank, can't give them to much light. Here's T5 fuzzy sticks

+1 You must have individual reflectors unless you are planning on keeping all of your sps on a frag rack.

My current build is a 40 breeder and will be using a 6 bulb ATI Sunpower with all ATI bubls. I have seen some great tanks with t5. Did not have much luck with LEDS so I decided to switch lighting and get a bigger tank.
