So my "Purple Death" Palythoa is brown, dirt brown. I need some tips on how to make it purple!
The Paly is on the left, it's the only picture I have. \: sorry!

From my experience, they turn brown under high light, purple under low light.

What size bulb is in there? if i was you look into either 2 coral plus ATIs, or maybe an aqua blue special, and coral plus.

Put them under a ledge, too much light is the cause.

You will not see purple without a blue bulb. Get yourself a daylight bulb and a blue bulb, and you will see the purple develop. I'd say an ATI blue+ and a GE 6500k bulb, but most like the extra blue look given by a Blue+ and a Coral plus. To each his own, but you definitely need a blue bulb or you will see brown instead of purple.

I don't think too much light is the issue as I have mine under a 4 bulb T5HO setup in a 20g high tank about 10 inches from the light fixture. I run 2 ATI blue+, 1 ATI Purple+, and a Giesemann 6000k daylight bulb (where I order from they don't carry the GE 6500k bulb) and mine are definitely very purple.

I'll try putting it under some shade for a week or two and see what happens! Its growing, because there's 2 or 3 more polyps on it since i got it. If all else fails ill invest in a blue bulb asap.
