I've had my firefish for about a week now. Looked healthy when I got him from the LFS. Noticed today something on his rt side behind his gills and after a quick search it seems very likely that he has a parasite and the things I've been seeing are it's eggs. Now there seems to be enough info on the Internet but im looking for someone with experience. The threads I have read people where able to capture their fish and freshwater dip and remove eggs only to have the come back, fish stresses out and dies thread done, didn't find any thread where a fish made it through and survived dip/treatment so I'm pretty sure he will eventually succumb to the parasite and pass if left untreated, Unless someone who has gone through the same thing and had a fish make it. Fish has been eating since day one,I mix up the diet it eats everything and he swims around with other fish, doesnt look sick except for the Stuff on the right side. Catching him is not an option as it would require a massive tank tear down and it's not worth it to me at this point. I've read that the parasite is specific to this species and my other fish are not in harms way. Any thoughts?

That was the same thing I read. I was just wondering if anyone has had this on one of their firefish and what the ultimate outcome was. the article said that it may not outright kill the fish but curious if someone had it, watched it go through its life cycle and what the end result was..... If no one else chimes in ill keep an eye on it and report back if anything changes

If the parasite lives on fish, and fish are still in the aquarium, then unless you go fallow for at least thirty days, preferably six weeks, you run the chance that it is still in there.

Well bad news, didn't make it. He was eating fine, swimming around the tank and looked good minus the growth. I'm going to check water param make sure it's not something in my water. And I was already going to do a w/c today. Was hoping he was gonna pull through as he was a cool looking fish. Attached pic of a couple days after I found the parasite.
