purple gorgonian trouble

What is the white stuff on this guy and what can I do for him. In one of the pictures the flesh seems to be falling off. Does he stand a chance. The light are 6 bulb T-5 and the flow is moderate. And to those that know him coldshot is home but has six weeks to be laid up in the bed. He said to tell everyone thanks for the help and those he owes he will make it right when he gets on his feet again.

gorgonians shed, make sure to have them in high flow to help the skin peel off faster. that being said, he looks to be going downhill.

 

Should I frag off the white part and leave the purple? Would that maybe help him heal up?

Could I take a brush to him and help take the white off of him? He isnt toast here until he is sure enuff dead so he stands a chance. slim one but still a chance.

 

best to help them shed with current. a light, (very light) brushing might help, may also kill it off.
