Purple queen anthias? Or not

    I just bought 2 anthias they were just marked anthias and when I asked I was told they are purple queen but now I'm looking at the pics of those fish and they have yellow on their backs these have yellow under there mouth and nowhere else.
    I'll try to get a pic in a few mon

    Doubt they are purple queen... but a pic would go a long ways.

    Well.... It looks like a pair of male purple queens to me. The yellow under the mouth is normal for a recently changed male.

    Some better pics when they are loose in the tank would help.

    I am worried that you might have 2 males. They will most likely not get along too well. Then again, with no females to fight over, just maybe.

    If they are purple queens, did you see them eat at the store? This species is IMO the hardest of the anthias to get eating. It takes quite a few different types of food, and possible live foods to get them eating.

    Could be a P. tuka. Closey related. Often mis-Id's and hang/collected together.

    I agree they look the same sex.

    Still drip acclimating, I'll get better pics when there in they do look more the tuka

    they are beautiful fish but are nearly impossible to keep alive.

    I think they might be the tuka, because they have the faint orange lines on their faces and heads like the tuka...just a guess!!

    Beautiful fish. Hope you have luck with them!
