The next fish I would like to try for my tank is the purple tang. Is this a very delicate fish or would is it to be cared for just like a yellow tang?

Is this fish very aggressive? I already have two B&W Percuals and plan on getting a Mandron down the road and maybe something else if my tank permits.

I really want this to be my next fish but I want o make sure I know what I am getting into with such an expensive choice.

    Thank you.

Sorry Claic, but in that size tank, you really can't house a tang. They require a lot of swimming room.

If it is for you 30 don't do it. The fish needs a 75 gallon tank bare minimum and a 125 would be better.

Oh no no my bad! I am upgrading to a 75 come this summer when I move and I wanted to be looking for a good price small one and just wanted to do some research! Sorry I didn't mention that in the first post!

I just wanted to know if it would conflict with my other fish and if they are hard to keep.

The Purple Tang should do fine with any Clowns. I think you have chosen an Excellent fish for your first Tang. You may even like this guy soo much that you can add some yellow Tangs later, in groups of odd numbers of course. ENJOY as I have!!!!! ;D

    Surfs UP!!!!

Nice, why do some say they are aggressive than instead of semi-aggressive?

Also, where is a good site to purchase this fish?

In all honesty Claic, I would not put one in a 75. Depending on how long the tank is, it might not be adequate for him to live a long happy life. For most tangs anyways, length is much more important than height. Because they swim more horizontally than they do vertical.

live aquaria is good but maybe you would be able to squeeze one in there if you buy it small.

I would not put a purple tang in a 75g, The fish gets way to big and requires more swimming room then some of the other species. After having one, I even start to feel like my 120g is way to small for him with how much he swims.

Try looking at a bristle tooth tang of some sort, Tomini, chevron or Kole if your set on a tang.

Even if I get one that is like 2 inches big? The smallest that I can find? They don't grow that fast do they?

Once he grows up I could either trade him to a LFS or get a bigger tank lol
