Indeed, Between 5 tangs... I feed about a 3"x3" sheet of nori twice a day, and a cube of mysis or some flakes... Small amounts . Every has their natural grazing habits and no one has a concave stomach and all arent plump.

I would have to agree with Tom and Red. A purple will grow way to big for a 75. They are listed as aggressive. They are fairly peaceful, until they get larger. Then they get territorial.

There are several other tangs that would fit just fine in a 75. I would start looking towards one of them.

Alrighty Claic, If your tank is not at least a minimum of 48" or 4' long, I would not suggest a tang, Try it if you want. Its not healthy for the fish though long run. Really IME, Tangs need a 6' tank. Im ashamed to have mine in a 4'. My tangs use every inch of that tank, and I wish I could give them more.

After you have a tang that gets up to 5-6 Inches in the Tank, you will be wishing that as well. Upgrading larger and larger each time gets more and more expensive, trust me. So if you havent bought the 75g/70g whatever it is, Think of something 90g+ if you want to house these things. Save your self some time and money.

Sorry to cause a debacle between everyone! I just really want a yellow tang and saw the purple tang and fell in love. I have a friend ,xmetalfan99 on this forum, who bought a yellow tang from out LFS and it hasn't grown more than half an inch in the past 4 months. So Im not sure what to do...I want to treat every creature I get to the best living conditions and feed them with the best effort I can.

Thanks RedGambit for looking out for me and it means a lot that your remembered I had tank problems before! I'm a he by the way if you wanted to know! lol

I mostly agree with Red and Neighbor Tom, although I don't necessarily think you HAVE to have a 6' tank. It is certainly more optimal to give them as much room as possible, but then again the ocean would be the best choice. A tang is definitely not suitable for your current tank and unless you have the 75 already, don't count on being able to upgrade in a few months. Life happens.

I have a purple in a 150 and I can tell you that although he is small (only about 3 inches) he is aggressive towards any new tank mates.
