So I added a pinnatus batfish to my tank a couple days ago. The batfish has been fine but my purple tang has been eating it's fins. Well the fins on the batfish are it's best part so I am getting worried. He has eaten about a half an inch off the top and bottom. I don't have another tank to put purple in? What do people recommend.? Such a beautiful fish I do not want to seeit eaten. Should I bring it back to save it or any help. The batfish is getting poorer looking by the day so I just don't know?

What size tank is this in? Purple tangs can get somewhat aggressive. Personally, I would remove the fish causing the trouble.

Tank is a 120. I'd return the batfish over the purple to be honest. I've had the purple for longer and they are a rarer fish now.

The batfish will need a much larger tank long run then the purple tang. I would return the batfish to give it a surviving chance.

Yes that is true. But this one was an aqua cultured one from Phoenix. I was told they don't grow nearly big as the ones in the wild only about 12-18 inches max so they didn't need a 5 foot tall aquarium this guy is only about 4-5 inches tall.

Not to be negative but I don't know why anybody would think that an aquacultured fish would grow any differently than a wild one. Unless they're messing with the fish's genes during the aquaculturing process, it will grow just as large as a wild fish given it has enough aquarium room to grow in.

Take the Batfish back. You're not set up for that fish at the moment, tank wise and tank mate wise.

Yea take the batfish back, purple tangs are usually the very last fish you want to add because they can get extremely aggressive. And yes I would keep the purple over the batfish just do to the fact they are getting rarer as well as in a few years that other fish will outgrow your tank, the purple won't however.
