etc! tangs can reach maturity in 9-12 months and thus be full grown!

 

Well she asked a 2 part question, you answered THEY, so i can only assume you're referring to both! Either way, neither is recommended for that size tank, so saying it's OK, is not OK! Ya can say try it, but with caveats! But broadly saying its OK without caveats or advice is not a good idea!IMO

By all means she can do what she wants, but don't just blindly say its cool, when its not! As it gets older, its gonna need more room, or be highly susceptible to ich or LLD and prob get rather aggressive towards its tank mates!

I have seen many people successfully keep a purple tang in a 90 gallon. end of story. I am not talking about a hippo tang.

 

So have I that's why I asked but if majority rules I go with the majority
