Agreed. This is why people must do some research about their fish they want. What is its Diet, How does it swim, Is it an open water swimmer, Does it do better in groups or singular in a home aquarium.

Now I agree 3reef is great and all and full of resourceful people. I feel that people need to sometimes step outside the forum and do their research. As you can get bits and info from fish vendors online, It still doenst fully cut the true research of the fish you want. It only took me a year and half to build up the guts to get a Tamarin wrasse. And she is doing lovely.

love your achilles! And i agree! i just take exeption to someone telling a newbie that a tang is just "cool" in any tank size! They aren't! They're finicky, require extra care and are prone to disease! But i love mine!lol

Also, i'd love a wrasse, but don't want to cover my tank or make my tang mad, so i'm going without one for awhile! Maybe if the chromis or dottyback takes a dive, i'll consider one!

I knew that this fish had a fast growth rate but it still was shocking to me how fast it truly is. I have seen other people who say that they are slow growers but these people are keeping them in smaller tanks so it may be that some stunting is at work when they are housed in small aquariums. Good luck with whatever you finally decide. I love my Tomi there coloration and personality are somewhat underated.;D As you can see it has gotten much darker with age and I love him.
I would be wary of minimum tank sizes provided by vendors actually selling you the fish. After all it is to there advantage to have as many potential customers as possible; meaning there minimum tank sizes could be vastly undersized. What you also have to understand about me in particular is I rarely kill fish and have had many for 10 years or more(my record 21 years Golden Maroon Clown). Fish stores would never get rich on me.lol My point is that I may have a different view on whats appropriate in the long haul for some fish because my long haul is well, long!!! I hope my fellow 3reefers take these things into consideration when forming opinions about why I give the advise I do. Here is a good set of rules that has helped me achieve what I would hope would be the goal of any responsible reefer.
