    Hello,

I have a purple tip anemone that comes out to about 1/4 of its normal size and then retracts after only a few hours. This has been occurring consistently for about two weeks following a move of the tank. The move involved a 50% water change. Tank was moved and back in place within less than two hours. All other tank inhabitants seemed to acclimate within 24 hours of the move. The water parameters were tested and all checked consistent with the water before the move. The tank had been up for a year and the anemone has been on board for about 5 months. Before this behavior, he was taking food about once a week in form of mysis or silverfish. No coloration issues, just seems to be stuck in this state of shrinking and unable to recover from the move. No issues with it detaching of floating around. Anemone and hosted rock are in same location they were prior to move with Anemone in top half of tank and near but not in direct current of the flow. No changes were made to filtration or lighting nor additions to the tank. Please advise. Thanks!

Are you saying that it refuses food, or have you not tried feeding because of it's behavior? It's not uncommon for nems to become skiddish after being disturbed. However, since it does open and is not hiding under a rock or wandering about the tank, I'd say it's fine. Just keep trying to feed it.

Yes, it is having a reluctance to feed. I'll kick back and observe for a bit and keep trying the occasional small food item. Hopefully it'll get back to normal sooner or later. thanks!
