I bought my first anemone yesterday. I placed him in my tank in a spot with good lighting and alternating current. I expected him to move around a bit but all day yesterday he stayed put. This morning I woke up and turned on the lights in the tank. He was still in place. I walked away for 5 mins and when I came back he was face down in the sand on the bottom of the tank. He has been that way for about 5 hrs now. He still looks healthy. Is this normal behavior?

Anenomes may do just about anything when first introduced to a tank - not to be alarmed. It will eventually find a spot it likes, and generally stay put after that. (spot may not be place you like :p )

    Just a comment,
Acclimation to aquarium life can be very difficult for the sebae anemone, They also tend to be Difficult to keep in captivity. They need a High light environment, IE MH lighting. and are recommended for experienced aquarists only.

Anemones and their behavior/body characteristics are very hard to pinpoint and decide what is going on with them IMO.
Sometimes they look phenomenal in terms of size and coloration, while at other times they look faded and shriveled uplike a raisin and inside out...
Optimal water conditions, moderate lighting at the least, efficient water movement will all go along way to ensure your anemone's success and health long term!

OK, I think he found a spot, he has not moved since last night and has his foot pretty secure. But I do need to elaborate on my question. My local fish store normaly has very well educated employees and I asked them if they had any anemones they would host a maroon clown. They all agreed that the sebae they had would be the best choice because it was aquarium bred over the naturaly harvested bubble tip they had. Now I am reading that maroons do not accept sebae as there host. Can someone set this straight for me? Everything I read is different and you all seem to know what you are doing.

The Maroon like to use a bubble tip more then a sebae . But thats not to say the maroon will not take to the one you have now.. If it had been myself looking for a host anemone for my maroon I'd have gotten a buble tip as my first choice.. But it can take weeks for a clown of any type to go to any anemone.. Also if you have plenty of lighting the tips will fade as the tenticls will alturn to a darker brown/ When you see them all white and purple tipped that means they are loosing their internal algae from lack of proper lighting.
