So I am trying to get other peoples opinions on this.

I have 2 small clowns that have been in QT for about 4 weeks. They were treated for ich and have showed no more signs of the parasite. I also have a blue eyed tang that has been in QT for 2 weeks and has showed no signed of ich but has been treated for flukes. The DT has been fallow for 4 weeks after introducing a fish with ich and I would like to leave the tank fallow for a total of 8 weeks preferably. Unfortunately I am unable to control the ammonia levels in the QT tanks even with large daily water changes (50% daily) and with my ammonia levels hanging at .25-.50 and the cost of large water changes taking a toll I am trying to decide whether to just move the fish back into the DT and hope that the parasite may have been eradicated in the DT. I know the chance that the parasite was beat in a 4 week fallow period is roughly 60% at best going off of a curve that someone calculated on another forum of the life cycle of marine ich. Please let me know what you think in terms of IF it were you in the situation.

Move the fish. I too was at one time a HARDCORE dedicated QT person. I still believe you should QT everything you get. However, the best cure I have ever found for most any parasite is good nutrition and healthy envrionment.

Have you tried using any of the ammonia blockers? Maybe add established biofiltration or some nitrifying bacteria. What is you setup over there?

You can also reduce toxicity by suppressing the pH, temperature and salinity. Reducing feedings also reduces the overall amount of ammonia.

I have been trying small spread out feedings with the clowns. But trying to keep the tang well feed. Both are bare bottom tanks. Air stone in each. Tang has a hob filter. Clowns have a piece of established sponge in their tank.

Ammonia blockers? If not, I would personally move them back to the DT.

I do have prime although I have never used it. Kinda scared honestly I guess. I have never used chemicals.

This stuff is pretty benign. I've used it all my uncycled and hypo tanks.

Would you recommend attempting to use it for another 4 Weeks?

At a temp of 70-75 the life cycle is completed in as little as 6 days with the average being 11-15 days. But here's the kicker, they have also been seen at day 72.

    I was the unlucky one.

If you can't control the ammonia, pull them out. Even if they look like they are surviving, they are damaging their gill filaments. There are still people out there who don't use RO/DI and have to condition their DT water with prime.... it's safe stuff.
