Putting dark sheet on back of Aquarium

    I have a piece of foam core posterboard painted with the same paint as the wall behind the tank. Hides all the plumbing/wires and gives the impression of nothing behind it.

    heck, my tank is 2 and the back is covered with coraline algae :)

    I used to do this, but don't any more. In an established tank you should get Coralline growth on the glass anyway. As for stressing the fish, I would have a hard time believing that it makes a difference one way or the other.

    i went and bought a decorative backround from the lfs. its a reef pic so it adds some depth to the tank. looks really nice. havent had a problem with the fish yet. its cool, when i wipe the glass with the magnet my tang cant tell that its me doing it, so he attacks the mag.

    i use black cloth and hang on the back for easy removal, this way when i'm working on the tank i can remove it and see what i'm doing :)
