I'm going for my first attempt at aquascaping and I'm going to use PVC and egg crates from a couple of old light fixtures I had. I decided that I should clean these items before I put them in my tank with bleach to kill anything that shouldn't be there when introducing it to the tank. My question is what precautions should I take when using the bleach itself. As of now I filled my tub up with water and bleach then let it soak for a couple of hours. I then rinsed everything off with fresh water. Now I filled the tub back up with water and am letting it soak overnight. Should I be nervous that I used bleach in the first place or are the measures I took good enough?

just make sure you rinse well and you should be fine. I did the pvc my self and only washed with some water and tank doing great. pvc is food grade and they try to keep it from the real toxic stuff so a good rinse is all I did.

rinse multiple times!!! just a very small trace of bleach can reak havoc on a tank. that is why they don't recomend using cleaners other than possibly vinigar.

If its air dried then bleach will be totally dispated and nuturalized . A good rinse is all I'd do I use it daily when at the shop.

I've bleached it, rinsed it, then let it sit in water overnight, rinsed again and its been sitting out drying all day. That should be good, I hope.
