as we all know past history glass will not bond with (acrylic or pvc). what are your thoughts on this stuff for bonding either (pvc or acrylic) with glass:

    dymax 4-20651
    dymax 4-20418
    dymax 3099

    eurobond vitralit

    permabond uv632
    permabond ta440

    cyberbond dualbond 777

    plastilock a1100b
    plastilock a1669b

What are you trying to do? The big issue with glass and acrylic or pvc is expansion rates and the bonding strength is fairly weak. Silicone will hold acrylic and glass, if there is not too much pressure and the temperature remains fairly constant though. I have a homemade overflow box in my 29 gal constructed this way. It has lasted several years.

using silicone with acrylic and glass is temporary and will fail.

    lets put it this way:

if you were to make an aquarium with a combination of glass, acrylic or pvc for the sides and bottom. which one of these compounds would you use so your house does not turn into an ocean:

    dymax 4-20651
    dymax 4-20418
    dymax 3099

    eurobond vitralit

    permabond uv632
    permabond ta440

    cyberbond dualbond 777

I do not know what I would use to make a tank out of acrylic and glass bonded together. Seems very risky at best.

But I am wondering, is there any reason you do not just use one of the materials instead of combining them?

cyberbond's company returned my email: they do not produce anything that will bond pvc to glass.

as it turns out another company not listed works like a charm on acrylic better than pvc for glass. looks like a new tank is in the near future.

dow corning, there is a company out there that makes pvc/glass aquariums, everybody i know has been trying to duplicate the procedure for years. according to dow, acrylic makes a stronger bond to glass than pvc.

Acrylic to glass with silicone is a weak bond, but it will hold in certain situations. Acrylic to pvc is weaker. Certainly not going to work if your making and aquarium with silicone and glass. That is too high pressure. Aquarium manufactures use special epoxies to do this, maybe the dow corning stuff your talking about? Anyways, are you actually making a hybrid glass acrylic aquarium? Now you got my attention; I'd like to hear more :)

    yup

uv adhesives work well with glass/acrylic until you add water, silicone will not bond to acylic/pvc. according to corning 795 is the trick, comes in a multitude of colors. if disney can use it for their aquariums i dont see why it wont work.
