    Building the return pipping from my sump. I would like to know if its safe to paint the pipe black. Iknow not to paint the parts that will be in the water. Oh and how deep should the return pipe be in the water?

    Painting should not be a problem as long as you do it after you have sealed the pieces together.

    I would put it in low enough to prevent water splashing.
