I've tried a handful of the different pygmy angels, all ended up eating corals and clams. I won't try again.

What species have you tried? My C. bispinosa doesn't touch anything but it really just depends on the individual fish. There are actually some centropyge that won't pick on corals such as C. colini because they inhabit deep waters and it isn't in their nature to pick at corals.

We had a Coral Beauty (untiil she went carpet surfing) and we now have a Pygmy Angel. None of them have caused any problems. We'll probably always have an angel of some sort in our tank. The only thing our pygmy ever nips at would be our red serpent star's legs...but she's never actually hurt a leg, she just picks them occassionally. Probably to see if it's edible or not.

They are awesome fish. They cruise around the tank and live rock picking at algae and food constantly. Our angels probaby only got half of their food intake from feeding time. the rest of the food came from pecking on the rocks. Oh, and angels like/need sponges. If you have pineapple sponges in your tank (common sponge hitchhikers), they'll be gone in no time.

We mix in some of Ocean Nutrition's frozen "Pygmy Angel Formula" (and by pygmy they simply mean dwarf angels) into our normal fish food to keep our angel of the day happy and healthy. We've also used other frozen foods specific for angels. I recommend using a food of this variety with your angel. Your other fish will like it too, so no worries there.

This is kind of an old thread, but instead of making a whole new one, I figured I'd just continue here....

My question is, will a Coral Beauty get along with a Hippo Tang? Does anybody have these two types of fish in the same tank?
