I'm thinking about get a dwarf angel for my 90 gallon reef tank in a few months. I'm interested in the pygmy or cherub angel. I know that the cherub may nip at corals, but what I'm wondering about is their personality. I've read very differing accounts online. Some sources say they are great for peaceful tanks and other sources say they are quite aggressive.

What are your opinions and/or experiences?

    Thank you!! :)

I was considering getting one of them and every book and piece of information I looked said that when small, they are pretty peaceful, but as they grow and get used to the tank they become much more aggressive. So you can probably get one, but it should be the last fish you are going to add.

Yeah, I think my LFS guy told me to stay away from them because they are little devils. But other stuff I read said they are nice.

Maybe they are like damsels a bit then? Those tend to get more aggressive as they age.

    I want a happy tank!

Yea, I would suggest a coral beauty or flame. They are the most common and most reef safe angel fish IMO. I would stay away from Potter's angels as they don't do as well as other angels.

Well...I already have a lot of orange/red fish in my tank, so I was hoping to introduce a new color, i.e blue, with the cherub.

Thanks for your opinions! I will do a bit more research.

I have a pygmy in my tank and he has been peaceful(knock on wood) the whole time. The only thing is he will pick at my corals once in awhile.

I had a pygmy angel for 8 months... he was a delight! He never picked on my other fish... I didn't have corals at the time, so I can't report on those here... sadly, I lost him to a heater going bad. :(
