I havent had any clams for probably a year but just saw in my tank that we have pyramid snails. I DONT UNDERSTAND how we can have them in a tank that has been clam free (this tank has never had a clam in there, however the rocks have been redistrubeted in the various tanks) They are definately pyramid snails.

When i kept clams I had always been very diligent about looking for them and obviously missed these (which now explains the mysterious death of my clam last year)

What I would like to know is does anybody have any suggestions on getting rid of them. I know certain wrasses are good predators however this is in a 29g tank that i dont think it will be fair to place a wrasse in even temp

I am not planning on placing clams in this tank, however when we get our 150g back up I will be adding some down the line.

I've heard pyramid snails can live off of some large snails.

that is exactly what i was getting ready to post! I have seen them on my astrea snails.....in fact last weekend I saw one snail that had like 10 "white things" on the shell with small holes and an outline of white circle where it was.

I have lost some snails in that tank, so I am now thinking that is where the pyramids came in on! I guess the easiest way then will is to remove all the snails from the tank!
