    Clear pics, especially of the ventral side, are always a big help! I always try to encourage people to take photos with the spire up, and the aperture visible, but the next guy with an ID request won't have read my posts encouraging that, lol. Glad to ease your mind.

    Cheers,

    Don

    @pagojoe,

    At one time I believe I saw an article or something that inferred that Rissoids' are sps eaters. If my memory failing me or do they eat sps.

    TIA

    Do not fret, I have gone and looked around for the material and reference and I can not find it, also when I googled it I found no reference to them eating sps.

    I just vaguely remember an issue in the S. Pacific, Tonga and Samoa where a snail was responsible for eating tabling acropora. I thought it was Rissiod but I may completely wrong and do not want to disseminate bad information.

    If I find the reference or the article I will follow up, but until pagojoe chimes in I would not worrry. ;)

    Hey guys,

    The only snails I know of that eat Acropora are Drupella cornus and Galeropsis monodontus, and maybe a few coralliophiliids, which are a lot different from the rissoids (and just about all of my years in the water were in Samoa and Tonga). Rissoids reportedly feed on microalgae, diatoms, or detritus, so none of them should be a problem in a reef tank. Here's a handy reference from Des Beechey, formerly of the Australian Museum:

    Family Rissoidae

    Better to know than not to know, but I'm really glad they're safe.

    Thank you yet again.
