I have a 20 gallon tank and I have a top fin 20 hang on filter it takes a slide in filter cartridge I plan on using Aqua Clear foam filters in place of the slide in filter. I have the foam pads in my wet/dry filter drawer to get them loaded with bacteria before I put them into the filter on the QT tank I believe that is basically the same thing that you are doing? Correct? ;D      John

    John,

Exactly the same as what I'm doing. I put my juvi yellow tang in for a three week quarantine after I brought him home and before adding him to the main tank and he loved it...thought he was going to have his own tank...heheheheh!! ;D

    Beamer,

I think that fishvet recommends the salinity thing, but check their site for more info:

    http://www.fishvet.com

It's also called "ecolibrium". They make another product called "Revive", for that evil fish coral disease This disease can kill every fish in your tank very quickly. Apparently it looks like ich but is kind of rust to tan colored. I've read that it can destroy a tank in just a week or less.

If you have trouble getting the tank dismantled, fishvet claims that you can dose the whole tank and that it will not hurt the corals or inverts!! I haven't run into that yet but I will be using it for prophylactic purposes on all subsequent corals and fish (I can't add any more fish anyway...4 is enough) just to make sure.

    I HATE ICH!!! [smiley=rifle.gif]

Thanks Drew, I clicked on the link but don't seem to find any info there. They talk about it a lot on reef central.

I'm with you-I also hate ich!

I found it Drew. The product sounds good. I wonder if it would be beneficial to use it along with hyposalinity. And yes they do talk about hyposalinity in their article.
It sounds like a good product to have on hand for when a new fish is purchased.

    Thanks for the link!
