So I recently had a ich break out. Tank is going to be fallow for the next 6 weeks :-/. SO I learned the hard way and do not want to take any chances on reintroducing ich in my tank. So my questions are...
    1) How do you quarantine your snails, shrimp, crabs and frags?
    2) Should I just do my clean up crew now? (have some but not done)
    3) What do you use for lighting in your quarantine tank with frags?
If anyone has any good right ups on any of this that would be great to.
    Thanks!

Since the MI parasite can only ride in on inverts and corals and doesn't imbed on them like it does fish it's my belief that a freshwater dip for the inverts and iodine for the corals is enough to rid them of unwanted pests. I'm sure someone will disagree with me.

If your tank had an outbreak 6 weeks isn't long enough to let it sit. The parasite will continue it's cycle of cyst/hatch/starve for 8 weeks with no fish in the tank to feed off of.

What size tank? What type of coral? Never qt my cleaner crew but I always put them in first, so I cant answer that. If your tank is empty because of ick then I assume you lowered the salinity. If so, you wont be putting inverts in there, intill its ready to go.The lighting depends on the type of frags, so I really need to know that first. You can use a coral dip on some of your frags if they dont look healthy, but I would still qt them. Sorry to hear about your ich problem, unfortunely, I had to learn the hard way to.

Yes I agree the cycle does last up to 8 weeks. I currently have a 90 gallon tank with sump. No corals yet but plan on keeping mostly softies. Did not lower the salinity don't think that is necessary and already do have about 20 mixed snails and crabs. thanks for your reply's.
